Founder and Director of Cancer Free Awareness, LLC
Gwen Pohl Infante has worked in the fields of public health and the law for over three decades, first as a nurse and later as an attorney. Most recently, she has become the founder and director of Cancer Free Awareness, LLC. Ms. Infante graduated from Fairview Hospital School of Nursing in 1969 and for several years worked in various areas of nursing as a registered nurse, including Intensive Care and Coronary Care. After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with Honors from East Bay California State University in 1977, she practiced psychiatric nursing at Long Island Jewish Medical Center – Hillside Hospital and biofeedback therapy at the Columbia University Center for Stress-Related Disorders.
Ms. Infante then continued her education and received her Juris Doctorate in 1984 from Georgetown University Law Center, Washington, DC. While attending law school she gained valuable experience interning at the Institute for Public Representation of the Georgetown University Law Center, working as an advocate for voting access for the disabled, and at Children’s Defense Fund where she drafted the organization’s position statement regarding needed reform and higher standards for the national Early, Periodic, Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment Program, a the comprehensive and preventive health services program for children enrolled in Medicaid.
After graduating from law school, Ms. Infante worked as a staff attorney on Food and Drug Administration issues for Public Citizen Health Research Group, a consumer advocacy organization in Washington, DC. In 1987, Ms. Infante began her private law practice evaluating and litigating medical malpractice, personal injury and product liability cases on the side of the injured person. In addition to research and litigation, she also has experience in mediation, having completed mediation training through the Institute for Conflict Analysis & Resolution at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.
In 2014, Ms. Infante founded the Cancer Causation Center (CCC) to assist individuals in identifying the cause of their cancers, increase awareness of carcinogenic risks, and to work for the decrease or elimination of carcinogenic exposures. In 2019, the name of this organization was changed to Cancer Free Awareness, LLC (CFA) to more closely align with the organization’s shift in focus to identifying all cancer risk factors, advising clients regarding the management of those risks, and advocating for increased awareness and decreased exposure to all cancer risk factors.
Ms. Infante is currently licensed as a registered nurse in Virginia and as an attorney in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Pennsylvania. She lives in Falls Church, VA with her husband and loves spending time with her two grown children.
